EcoFab

In partnership with the Sussex Coast College, HBC, local contractors and others, Hastings Trust has been part of a successful pilot cross channel partnership led by a training network in Normandy. Environmental Building and Heritage Construction Skills are key components, and supporting and participating in Pathway to Construction and EcoFabulous, bringing a European aspect, is the main focus for our part.

The partnership has now entered the second stage and we submitted a much bigger application to develop these themes over the next three years. On March 10th 2011 we learned that the application was successful. (See also www.ecofablog.blogspot.com)

EcoFabulous on June 18th was a show case of eco-intelligent approaches to building with the ability to try them out, as well as discussion events and workshops open to all. Demonstrations and stalls, discussions and workshops covered strawbale building, lime plastering, solar clubs, Fair Trade, consultation on Hastings pier, volunteering, keeping heritage skills alive and much else. There were live bands and children’s activities throughout the day. There were over 700 vistiors. You can dowload a pdf (about 7mb) of photographs of the event by clicking here. See the collage above and the Slide Show for some examples.
